I cannot thank Paul King Funeral Directors, South Woodham Ferrers enough for the dignified send off they gave to my husband and soul mate Wayne, who was cruelly taken from us far too soon and unexpectedly in January 2021. I have nothing but praise to bestow on staff, who were so supportive and respectful every step of the way, despite my being so specific in my requests when making arrangements. Everything was personalised to the 'nth' degree, even though restrictions were in place at the time. An unusual and unexpected choice, I ordered a bespoke photographic casket from colourful coffins. This was so that friends and family, unable to attend due to restrictions, were represented at the service visually. It was absolutely stunning and I can highly recommend this alternative, even under normal circumstances. I didn't realise the finish would be in gloss which really made it shine. It was indeed a work of art! Never have I seen a more beautiful coffin! With our photos surrounding our beloved Wayne, it genuinely felt that we were with him every step of the way. The use of web cam meant that a large number of friends and family were able to join us virtually. In addition a personalised visual tribute was an easy process to upload, with our choice of music added by the company used by Paul King. This was a real bonus! I would also like to thank Paul King for allowing our close friend Steve to drive the beautiful, gleaming hearse. That Steve could do this meant a huge amount to us. Thank you to the pall bearers who were so smart, dignified and respectful. A special thank you also to Lesley for her excellent organisation and for her understanding and display of empathy during my emotional outbursts! A special thank you to Daniel Curley a close friend who was our Celebrant, facilitated by Paul King. (One final note: Since Paul King is a smaller, more local business rather a larger nationwide funeral directors, I expected the costs to be higher. I was therefore pleasantly surprised when they were not. So an extremely personalised service at lower costs.) I can unreservedly recommend Paul King Funeral Directors and thank them sincerely for helping to make our Wayne's send off one he had planned and so deserved.

On recommendation from a friend I contacted Paul J King to help with the loss of my son in January. I was totally impressed right from the start when two very polite smartly dressed kindly gentlemen arrived late at night to collect Ross from the house. They were so professional, caring and respectful of both Ross and of our feelings at such a distressful time. In fact this set the tone for the whole process of arranging his funeral amid so many restrictions with help from Wendy at the Burnham office. Wendy is a super lady and helped me at every stage with total understanding and tenderness. We chatted so much about Ross which really helped me she is so caring and nothing was too much trouble whatever I asked of her. I was very comfortable being totally looked after by such a professional kind person and she knew just how important this farewell was to me being the last thing I could do for my son. Needless to say all went very well on the day and the special request that I had asked for to make a slight detour to drive past Ross’s place of work on the way to Chelmsford was all fitted in. To us as a family Ross’s funeral was special just like him and Paul with his staff helped to make that happen making it personal for which I am truly grateful and cannot thank them enough. I would highly recommend Paul J King to take care of your loved one and the family at such a sorrowful time they are so professional with caring and respect paramount.
